Why the Spleen Matters

If you've spent much time around SolaraGem, you've probably noticed we keep coming back to the spleen.

To many people, that seems surprising. The spleen is rarely discussed outside of medical settings, and most people couldn't tell you much about what it does. Yet over the years, it has been one of the two foundational practices within the SolaraGem system.

Why?

The answer begins with an observation that extends far beyond SolaraGem itself.

For centuries, practitioners in traditional systems of healing repeatedly returned to the spleen as one of the body's central foundations. Likewise, the traditional use of Amethyst over the crown and Carnelian over the spleen long predates modern Crystal Fusion Light, extending back through centuries of practice.

These weren't ideas we invented.

They are practices we inherited.

Our experience has simply taught us why they have endured.

One of our recurring themes has been learning to look beyond the immediate problem. Rather than asking only, "What symptom am I trying to change?" we've encouraged asking a different question:

"What supports the body's ability to adapt?"

That shift in perspective changes the questions we ask—and often the answers we discover.

Healthy living systems continually adapt. They recover after stress. They return toward balance after challenge. They repair, reorganize, and respond to changing demands.

Much of what we think of as health is really the body's remarkable capacity to recover, adapt, and return to balance. Over years of observation, spleen support repeatedly stood out as one of the simplest ways to support that adaptive capacity.

Not because we were trying to "treat the spleen." Because people consistently seemed better able to recover, regulate, and return. That distinction matters.

We're not suggesting that the spleen is the answer to every problem, nor that every condition begins there. Rather, we've found that supporting one of the body's foundational systems creates conditions in which many other things work better.

That's why the spleen has remained one of the foundations of this practice.

The Carnelian consistently emerged as our preferred SolaraGem for spleen support. While it has many other applications throughout the body, regular spleen support is one of the simplest practices we found ourselves recommending again and again.

Practitioners trained in traditional Chinese pulse diagnosis have consistently reported that the Carnelian SolaraGem produces an immediate strengthening of the spleen pulse during a session. While this reflects clinical observation rather than controlled research, we've observed it consistently enough over the years that it has become one more reason we continue returning to this practice.

It isn't something we reserve for illness.

It's become part of the rhythm of maintaining a healthier state.

Just as the Triple Crown introduces the broader practice of state, regular Spleen Support helps reinforce the body's ongoing capacity to adapt, recover, and return.

Together, these two simple practices form the foundation upon which the rest of the SolaraGem system naturally grows.

Everything else builds from there.

THE SPLEEN: WHERE EAST AND WEST BEGIN TO CONVERGE

In The Spark in the Machine, Dr. Daniel Keown explores how traditional Chinese medicine and modern physiology, while using very different models, often point toward remarkably similar observations about the spleen.

Western medicine primarily understands the spleen through its roles in immunity and blood, while traditional Chinese medicine describes the spleen as central to digestion, energy production, emotional stability, and mental clarity.

In traditional Chinese medicine, an underactive spleen is often associated with fatigue, mental fog, digestive weakness, and diminished emotional resilience. While modern physiology describes these relationships differently, both perspectives point toward the importance of healthy digestive and regulatory function in supporting overall well-being.
